The two older women to my right began signing quickly and fluently with the teacher, and I had no idea at all what they were talking about. I felt rather lost and a bit intimidated. Sure, I haven't taken ASL since I took 1B last spring, but they were way out of my league.
After a while, the two women switched places, which I thought was a bit odd. Then the man far to my right got a hand-out, and held it right up to his face to read it, and then I noticed the woman next to him was repeating what the teacher was signing, right next to him.
He's deafblind, and I was sitting next to his interpreters. Whew... I was relieved.
When we were leaving the class, two of the younger women expressed their relief as well.
Cross-posted to signing.
