The painting of Honda Tohru
baisleac got some great before, during, and after pics of painting my car. They're in this entry, along with lots and lots of pretty pictures of San Francisco and fog.

Here are just the car pics, hosted on my own server, behind the cut.

I already got one comment at work today: "I like your car." He went on to explain to the woman who overheard him that my car couldn't be missed.

Honda Tohru indeed!
What kind of paint do you use? Is it possible to get it off again (say, when you want to sell your car and buy a new one)?
Also, yay for vanity plates!

I use 1-shot paint (http://www.1shot.com/), an oil-based enamel for exterior use on metal, glass, wood or masonite. It is commonly used to paint outdoor signs and for pinstriping and lettering on cars.

I don't expect to be able to easily get it off without taking some of the original car paint off. We used a little nail polish remover on spots where we oopsed while the paint was still wet though. I could strip all the paint and get it re-painted, but the car cost $1100, so I don't think it would be worth re-painting just to sell. I think if I sell it, I'll sell it to an anime fan.

From past experience, I expect it to still look pretty good, maybe with a little touching-up, in 2012.

Yes, I like the plate. :)
