Weird Al: eBay search

So, Ade got the new Weird Al-bum, and I was really struck by how authentic the eBay song sounded. I thought, you probably could find most of those things on eBay.

Well, you can. Here is a list of objects in the song, and which ones you can actually find on eBay, plus other interesting notes.

I manually grepped the lines from the song that mention items you might find on eBay, then added my results.

  • A bathrobe

    Plenty of used pink bathrobes.

  • A snow globe

Plenty of snow globes, some in mint condition.

  • A Smurf...TV tray

Nothing with quite that description. I say this is close enough: "Smurf Metal Tray with legs! L@@K!"

  • Tell me why (I need another pet rock)

Wow, I'd heard of these... now I know they come in a nifty box with holes in it, a nest!, and instructions.

  • Tell me why (I got that Alf alarm clock)

I was dubious about whether such a thing even exists. It does! I couldn't find one on eBay, but if you find one online anywhere, eBay would be a likely place.

  • Tell me why (I bid on Shatner's old toupee)

No idea. They do sell a few human hair toupees though.

  • Gonna buy (a slightly damaged golf bag)

    Plenty of used golf bags.

  • Gonna buy (some Beanie Babies, new with tag) (From some guy) I've never met in Norway Found him on eBay

Found plenty of Beanie Babies... found a few items in Norway, but currently no Beanie Babies sold from Norway.

  • I'll buy...your tchotchkes

I found one odd item actually listed as a tchotchke.

  • Sell me..your watch, please

    Duh, lots of watches...

  • (Hey! A Dukes of Hazzard ashtray)

Under completed items. It has a picture of the General Lee in the middle.

  • Wanna buy (a PacMan Fever lunchbox)

Well, I do see 4 PacMan lunch boxes in completed items, but nothing about PacMan Fever.

  • Wanna buy (a case of vintage tube socks)

I didn't think I'd find the word vintage used with tube socks. "VINTAGE 80s EMO JAPAN RAVE STRIPE TUBE SOCKS" I was wrong.

  • (Wanna buy a Kleenex used by Dr. Dre)

LOL, there is an item, #3527205028: "Used Kleenex you don't want it!" It will probably get deleted soon, as they have a policy about selling human parts and remains, which would seem to include nasal waste products. I doubt you could actually buy celebrity snot on eBay.

  • Wanna buy (that Farrah Fawcett poster)

  • (Pez dispensers

eBay was supposedly started on Pez dispensers. Okay, I'll search. Currently, 4023 items found for Pez. Sure, a few aren't actual Pez dispensers, but still... that's a lot...

  • and a toaster)

Plenty of toasters... even a weird-shaped toaster oven...

In conclusion, yes, you can get most of that stuff on eBay. Today. What are you waiting for? :)
