Lounge against the dying of the light
So, we were walking to Voodoo Donuts, when we passed Dante's bar and saw Richard Cheese was playing tonight. His 9pm show sold out, so he also had a midnight show. Others were not excited enough or not willing enough to stay up that late, so [info]cheesybunny and I saw his show. He was rather amazing live. I bought two CDs. :)

For those who may not know, Richard Cheese does lounge-style covers of popular songs. A lot of his songs are on Youtube in case you're curious.

The Spongebob theme and Billy Jean really took me by surprise. :)

Voodoo donuts were good too. Their vegan donuts are light, not as dense as Mighty-O. Which isn't better or worse, just different. Mmm.

Hrm... The only Richard Cheese that I knew of before now was one of the main characters in the movie "Curse Of The Queerwolf", a campy and hilarious b-movie that spoofs everything from "The Wolfman to "The Exorcist" (or was it more like a d-movie?).

I like his pop and metal covers alright, but I've been a fan of his gangsta rap mostly. :) I believe Lister turned me onto him when I was speaking of similar style musicians/songs like Phish Gin n' Juice. It is very rare for anything that good to play here in town, at least, affordable. Work often has A list stuff, mostly comedians though.. Robin Williams, Jeff Foxworthy and the like have performed.. but I prefer to catch them on youtube later than dish out that kind of money. Almost saw James Earl Jones, but got tired.. I gave the tix to Seth and he said it was fun.

Lucky you! I've heard some of his stuff and find him hysterically funny.

There's a place called Danté's bar? With the acute on the é and all?

Please pretty please take a picture showing the sign so I can give to my brother named Danté?

Love you

I personally love his covers of "Closer" and "Holiday in Cambodia"
