Bah, Amazon.
Bah, Amazon is removing page rankings, "best seller" list entries, and possibly even search results for anything considered to have "adult content." This includes many books with no adult content but with gay characters, such as "The Filly," a young adult novel with a boy who realizes he's gay.

I'm tempted to buy some of these books now, though whether from Amazon to "show them" how popular they are, or elsewhere so the money goes elsewhere.

That makes more sense... Other write ups, including one in a petition just says Amazon is anti-gay for removing adult themed items... never mentioning the false gay = adult connection.

I sent them an angry letter.

Sounds like they're covering it over, yup. Nice that they can't just get away with stuff like that. Yay for social networking. Thanks for the link!

Note that a popular tag on twitter today is #glitchmyass .

NPR also had a brief word today on the story. They emphasized the power of info-sharing via social networking - Hurray for the eruption of outrage on Facebook and Twitter.

Yeah, it's bullshit.

My friend's books were still apparently ranked, but he said they'd curiously dropped hundreds of thousands of points that day despite having been consistently high-ranked for years.
