Surge!
Some days, I am highly impressed with just how much some people want expired discontinued soda. I'm glad I'm the seller. :)

Hey Todd,

Sorry for posting this here but I don't have your email address.

In regards to the food at the wedding, will any of these work for you (see below)? Let me know what you'd like.

Cheers,

Dafuh? Why would someone pay that much?

You think they'll consume the soda?
ashi: ai-khan!!!ashi on May 2nd, 2007 11:14 pm (UTC)
I know some of them do. Some are probably just collectors, but that's kind of silly, as these cans won't last much longer. I've had plenty of leaky old soda cans... bleh.

In this case though, these are the original design from when Surge first came out 10 years ago. I think that is driving up the price because they're more rare, but that also means they are more stale and less likely to last long... *shrug*

Hey, as long as the paypal goes through it's no skin off your nose.

I love capitalism.
Mikhaila: Dude Whatsoquili_gitli on May 2nd, 2007 11:29 pm (UTC)
$98? Whoa.
ashi: toddletashi on May 2nd, 2007 11:34 pm (UTC)
That was for 12 cans though, so well under $10 a can. :)
Mikhaila: Dude Whatsoquili_gitli on May 2nd, 2007 11:37 pm (UTC)
Still, you paid what.. $4 for it?
ashi: juuni kokkiashi on May 2nd, 2007 11:42 pm (UTC)
Hard to say really. There is a long history to those cans, involving an ex-housemate, her ex, and some family plan cell phone bills...

These current cans were gifts after helping same ex-housemate move (which was also helpful because there was no more room to move stuff).

I believe most of them were originally bought under normal cost at Fry's, discounted because they were being phased out...

Jeez, I have a couple of cans in my storage. My son-in-law was calling me nuts. Now I wonder how I should be selling the silly things. Who Knew?!?

Got any 12 oz. glass bottles of CrystalPepsi laying around, too? ~_^
ashi: fate-nanohaashi on May 3rd, 2007 02:57 am (UTC)
Nope. I wish... I never tried the stuff, but I'll bet it'd be valuable now.
Wow... http://cgi.ebay.com/unopened-bottle-of-Crystal-Pepsi_W0QQitemZ170106601197QQihZ007QQcategoryZ13614QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
and that high bidder is one of my current bidders too. :)

Holy crap, I forgot about Surge! Now, if you had OK soda, then I'd be in trouble. . . man I miss that one. . .
ashi: orange daysashi on May 3rd, 2007 02:55 am (UTC)
You know, I still have two full cans of OK Soda. I miss it too...

Interested? I was going to put one up this weekend...
unerasable_sinsunerasable_sins on May 3rd, 2007 05:12 am (UTC)
ha! that is so great! I remember being in the 7th grade and calling their hotline all the time. . .

I would totally buy one, if I wasn't so poor now! ;.;
ashi: cat6 diagramashi on May 3rd, 2007 05:19 am (UTC)
Aww. Yeah, each can should fetch at least $10. I had a third, but I just noticed when I went to check today that it had leaked.

They never sold it in California, but I discovered it going up to Westercon in Portland in 1995. I also discovered Henry Weinhard's root beer. At least it's still around.

The hotline wouldn't work from California, but I've listened to some of it on various OK Soda fan sites.

Got anything you want to trade for a can?
Darrel L. Exline: KegBeardarrelx on May 3rd, 2007 03:07 am (UTC)
You might want to change the shipping method to "FedEx Ground" instead... do you think the cans will survive being depressurized at 30,000 feet in a cargo plane?

...just a thought.
ashi: charyb-deskashi on May 3rd, 2007 03:09 am (UTC)
Well, I think home delivery is ground. That was the slowest option I had to a residential address. And I've used it several times with cans before. Thanks though.
